Wes is the Community Liaison for the Psychiatric Emergency Response Team (PERT), is a retired Detective Sergeant and 30 year veteran of the San Diego Police Department. He’s a trained hostage and crisis negotiator and graduate of the FBI’s National Crisis Negotiation Course at the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA.
He served as Staff Sergeant of the SDPD Emergency Negotiations Teams for more than a decade where he coordinated training, equipment, and field operations.
Wes has developed and taught courses for Alliant International University and has trained negotiators from around the United States and beyond. Prior to joining PERT full-time in 2019, he has assisted PERT throughout the years in a number of ways ranging from training to field response. He was part of the developmental team that authored the San Diego County School Threat Protocol.
