Strategic Plan:

Beyond Awareness

A 5-year plan to move beyond autism awareness to acceptance and advancement for the San Diego Community.
Our vision for the future centers on creating a supportive ecosystem for individuals with autism and their families through targeted Advocacy, Business and Community efforts. This approach emphasizes impactful policy reforms, innovative business collaborations, and inclusive community-building initiatives. By addressing these critical areas, we aim to build a future where acceptance and support are foundational for all. Together, Advocacy, Business and Community form the pillars of progress for a more inclusive San Diego.

Advocacy

The Autism Society is committed to empowering the autism community through robust advocacy efforts. We do this by championing systemic change and advocating for public policy that improves the quality of life for individuals and families affected by autism. In addition, recognizing the critical need for accessible and affordable housing options, we actively collaborate with developers and stakeholders to create innovative housing solutions for autism families. Finally, we are dedicated to combating discrimination and ensuring justice for autistic individuals and their families. This involves addressing systemic barriers and advocating for equitable access to healthcare, education, employment and the legal system. We collaborate closely with the Autism Society's National Justice Center to provide support, resources and empowerment to the autism community.

Business

The Autism Society’s strategic business goal is built on collaborating with local businesses to create accessibility and inclusion to improve the lives of everyone in our community. It helps drive business to both our public and private sector program participants. We also seek to encourage innovative autism start-ups that will drive new technologies and services to create new opportunities for autism families.

Community

The Autism Society is dedicated to fostering a sense of community that includes individuals with autism, their families, and the broader population. Through community programming and support initiatives, we aim to enhance the quality of life for individuals with autism while building a more inclusive and connected society for everyone.
